Squash competition kicks off at the newly completed Pei Min Squash Academy

MIRI, 4 August – The Political Secretary to the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Dato’ Sebastian Ting praised the effort of Miri Squash Association (MSA) in organising the CMS-S1 Squash Circuit Miri Leg which started yesterday.
The three days squash tournament involving 125 players comprises adults, teenagers and young children is being held at the newly completed Pei Min Squash Academy.
“This is a very good event and congratulation to all the organising committee members for a job well done.
“I must say, they have done a good job in putting the event together and in a way, created an avenue for squash players of various ages in Miri to polish up their talents in the sport,” he said when officiating at the event.
He said the organising committee had gone through a lot of trouble and spent a lot of time as well as resources to ensure the success of the event.
According to Ting, a good sportsman can only be produced when the athlete has a strong desire to succeed and is committed towards achieving the success.
“Every athlete can be successful as long as they have the desire and strong commitment to do so.
“Good sportsmen are results of strong commitments. If you put your heart into something and work hard towards it, you will definitely receive positive outcome,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ting said the Pei Min Squash Academy which was completed in February this year is the first squash centre of its standard in Sarawak and Sabah.
The academy features squash courts with facilities which are up to the national standards.
During the function yesterday, Ting also presented a contribution cheque from the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui to the Miri Squash Association (MSA).
The contribution was to help the association runs its activities and continuously hold events that helps develope the standard of squash in Miri.
Also present at the event yesterday was SUPP Pujut chairman Andy Chia and MSA president Jimmy Wee.,
