Brighter road at the new Pujut 7 dual carriage

MIRI, 28 June – Upon completion, the Pujut 7 dual carriage road will be brighten up with 169 new street lights that will replace the 21 street lights that are currently in operation.

“There will be a total of 169 street lights installed along the new Pujut 7 dual carriage road once the project is completed,” said Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister of Communication.

He added that the Public Works Department (PWD) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SESCO) are now in the midst of installing the new street and traffic lights.

“Contractors will install the 169 new street lights once they have dismantled the 21 old street lights,” he said.

Two additional sets of traffic lights will be installed, one at the Permymall junction and the other will be installed to replace the Pujut 7 roundabout.

“The traffic lights installed to replace the Pujut 7 roundabout will be operational before the new bridge is open to traffic. We are also installing a set of traffic lights at the Permymall junction to regulate the heavy flow of traffic there,” Lee told reporter after visiting the site this morning.

“The installation of the street lights however will only be complete in August,” Lee said adding that the project is on schedule.

The dual carriage road which will run from Pujut 7 roundabout all the way to the IKBN-Vista Perdana junction as well as the new Pujut 7 bridge is phase one of the project which is expected to be fully completed and open to traffics by the end of July.

Phase two of the project will see the upgrading of the road from IKBN-Vista Perdana junction all the way to the Asian Bridge.
