DUN Speaker tops State honours list
KUCHING, Sept 23 (Bernama) — Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar heads the list of 909 recipients of state awards in conjunction with Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng’s 90th birthday tomorrow.
He is the sole recipient of the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) award, which carries the title, “Datuk Amar”.
Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Seri Ali Mahmud is the sole recipient of the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title, “Dato Sri”, while Brunei’s Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri will be conferred the honorary PNBS.
State Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datin Fatimah Abdullah is one of nine recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) award, which carries the title, “Datuk”.
The others are state Assistant Minister for Public Utilities Sylvester Entri Muran, state Assistant Planning and Resource Management Minister Mohd Naroden Majais, state Assistant Tourism and Heritage Minister Mong Dagang, state Assistant Housing and Urban Development Minister Abdul Wahab Aziz, Tarat assemblyman Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Maj Gen Datuk Mazelan Kasap, Brig Gen
Stephen Mundaw and Temenggong Kanang Langkau.
Two people to be conferred the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title, “Datu”, are Federal Treasury Sarawak director Jabidah Monseri and Sarawak Syariah chief judge Mohamed Ali Mohd Sheriff.
High Court judge Rhodzariah Bujang is among 13 recipients of the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title, “Dato”. The recipients also include Universiti Teknologi Mara Sarawak rector Prof Dr Jamil Hamali, Petronas Group Corporate Affairs Division senior general manager Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Sibu Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) women’s wing chief Datin Janet Lau Ung Mie, Normah Medical Specialist Centre’s cardiotoracic surgeon Dr Liew Wee Lik and Miri Melanau Association president Alexander Maiyor.
The others are Inland Revenue Board chief executive officer/director-general Mohamad Sait Ahmad, Miri Malay Association president Wan Morshidi Tuanku Abdul Rahman, former Lambir assemblyman Usop Wahap@Sani Wahap, Sacofa Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Abang Jemat Abang Bujang, former Sarawak Prison director Abang Talhata Abang Hazemi, businessman Koh Yaw Hui and Datin Rugayah Abdul Majid.
Receiving the honorary PSBS award is Seyed Ali Dabier Moghaddam of Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, Samajaya Free Industrial Zone, here.
The Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) award has two recipients, Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) 11, including one honorary, Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Emas) (13), Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (17), Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (56), Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (Perak) (99), Ahli Bintang Sarawak (172), Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (69), Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (193) and Bentara Bintang
Sarawak (249).
Abang Muhammad Salahuddin will confer the state awards at an investitute ceremony at the new state legislative assembly building in Petra Jaya, here, tomorrow. — BERNAMA
