26 associations and organisations received MRP grants from Lee
MIRI, 18 August – A total of 26 associations and organisations received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM95,000 from the Assistant Minister of Communications, Datuk Lee Kim Shin today.
According to Lee, the grants are for the recipients to organise activities that promotes unity, harmony and multiracial understanding among the people of various races.
“Unity is a very important element in this multiracial community. Therefor associations as well as non-government organisations should play proactive roles in promoting unity.
“With unity, there are also peace, understanding and harmony which are also very important for a multiracial community like ours,” he said.
This morning’s recipients comprises Federation of 4th Chinese Association, Miri Hakka Community Association, Sarawak Miri Hopoh Association, Kelab Social dan Rekreasi Kong Siong Miri, Malaysian Association of Shito-Ryu Karatedo Sarawak, Persatuan Taekwondo Gabungan Sarawak, Miri Division Vui Neng Association, Miri Taxi Association, Persatuan Wushu Miri, Miri Badminton Association, Jawatankuasa Penduduk Desa Senadin Miri, Persatuan Tuan Punya Bas Sekolah Miri and Miri Buddhist Bodhisattva Believers.
Also receiving were Sarawak Baptist Church, Kelab Penunggang Motosikal Miri, Pertubuhan Kesenian dan Social Fei Yen Miri, Miri Chawan Association, Miri Radio Control Club, Persatuan Guru-Guru Sekolah Cina Bahagian Miri, Persatuan Persahabatan Miri, SIB Iban Church, Kelab Sosial dan Rekreasi Ai Xin Miri, Kelab Pemancing Miri, Miri Basketball Association, Persatuan Ping Pong Bahagian Miri and MAKSAK Bahagian Miri.
The MRP cheques were presented to the respective recipients in a simple ceremony held at SUPP Senadin’s office.
